Ekaterina Shilyaeva is russian watercolor and graphic artist, architect and designer.
Born in 1964 in Ulyanovsk, she graduated from the school of Arts in Saratov in 1978. In 1987 she graduated from the Saint-Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. After graduation she has been working as an architect and interior designer in Saint Petersburg, always spending a lot of time with watercolor and graphic painting.
Since 2015, the watercolor becomes a major part of her career. Now Ekaterina Shilyaeva is actively exhibiting both in Russia and abroad. Her artworks won various awards and are located in private collections in Russia, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic and Finland.
Ekaterina works in different genres and techniques: plein air landscapes and floral compositions, portraits, indoor-painting from different objects or photos, painting by heart and from imagination. Color, improvisation, accuracy and courage of painting, ability to reflect texture, silhouette, light, form and feeling are at the heart of the artist’s work.
